The Grand Canyon: Rim to Rim

Hiking the Grand Canyon from Rim to Rim is one of the hardest one day hikes in the United States. But it is not just the 24 miles (39K) distance, or  the 11,000 feet (3,550m) of elevation gain and loss that make it so. Whether from North to South or South to North, this is a trek that requires a lot of preparation and planning, especially when it comes to fueling and dealing with the extreme temperatures.

    Beyond exhausted. Rim-to-Rim was magnificent in every way. Fourteen and a half hours of hiking through the Grand Canyon along what has to be one of the most jaw-dropping landscapes on Earth. I won’t lie though. Those last 5 miles were anything but peaches and cream. I was beyond miserable at the end. At the moment I’m exhausted, bitchy and hungry.
